Vellcrif ...shut up!

were talking about an old drawing, from someone whos just started, throw him a bone will ya? instead of your hight and mighty attitude why dont you simple offer him your tips in a more positive way?
whats good about being an artist if it has to make your head inflate like a baloon everytime you look at someone '' underskilled'' ? do you really need that much to step on other to meke you feel better?

tricks for shadows

if you painted this with photoshop here is a trick that could fit well in this pic, since the character is lightened from behind you may want to paint the whole character with a big highlight on the edges and dark shades on the center of the body,
like make a copy of the whole character layer, then ctrl-u adjust the brightness to -50% or so, then use a mask to erase the edges and some strategic areas, this will create a nice cell shading effect that will add realism to the pic and create stunning effects.

nicksoul responds:

thanks really. used more simple effects of flash I use most of these effects photoshop after you for tips and note that you
I will use in the next gear

Gosh!something different from anime mecha!

I disagree with tateortea, that mecha look different than thoses shiny war mech from japanese animes, it look more like some worn industrial worker mech , with a touch of Victorian steampunk, kinda like some Wall-e turned into a patchwork war machine, in that case the choice of gray pastels is perfect, it enforce its old--reused look
il also add that the twisted face of the mech , make it a little burelesque wich add originality to the picture, like some psychoticsci -fi novels
very unique

NicKoLa93 responds:

finally a new good review ! thank you

ive seen a lot of people with a face like this

agreeing with real for his choice of drawing her like that...not all characters are supposed to be cute looking, she look like some kind of 30-40 middle aged woman who hang witht he other main characters...kinda like a supportive character that despite her look may be a good ally
however...if i was you kreal i would enforce her face with a few folds and ripples around the nose and mouth, to give her a more aged look, add some on the temple too, i would also make her eyebrows thicker, to enforce a more serious attitude
that would complete the serious helper persona

i too personally enjoy drawing old middle aged guys, i should scan and upload a few examples in my portfolio i have 2 pages of old man and middle aged mans faces, and one of my comic,s villain is an old bald and grumpy church inquisitor, whos all about rippled skin and nasty grouchy attitude...you can see it on my comic sample on my page, hes the one with the pointy hat

Whoa!

a whole painting, with great color blend and effects, and the added lines make it look cartoonised, quite spectacular

Kamikaye responds:

Actually the lines were there first ;D

look like a painting

at 1st glance i can see some rough strokes. precisely at the lava crater and the lower part of the flooded bulidings,,, and the bubbles on the top,the colors arent too blended so it give a raw unfinished appearance...however the whole picture seems solid and show spectacular effects

especially around the spaceship thing, who have some water entry effect around it...make it look realistic

great job, but you could had worked up a little bit more on blending the colors so it look smoother

Kamikaye responds:

Thx :) Yea I tend to work rather rushed on full digital pieces. I need to get that under control..
thx for your dedicated comment :)

way to go with suggestion

i think the main good aspect of this submission is its very suggestive theme, this picture is not a technical wonder but its main interest lies in the composition itself,
the whole pose is very suggestive while not showing anything... it make people imagination work like a power plant just by looking at it, also nice job on the background with the rippled cloth effect

ScorpianX0 responds:

Thanks, It's this kind of feedback I can really enjoy reading. Whether it be positive or negative, Just having this much detailed reasoning behind it is what I can respect.

kenshin fan eh?

thats some awesome piece of fanart here,
classic ronin pose with the tough thug look, one simple layer of shade with cloud backgrounds, simple work, well balanced and very symbolic
looking forward to see more like this

Kero-the-boy-killer responds:

Never been a fan of Kenshin XD
